my hypotension is so dismissed by my family but its serious when they're the ones experiencing it...

Vent/Rant

In short, I've had dysautonomia for years, I'm not sure what "type" or if I have any sort of linked conditions or causes because all of my doctors have been really dismissive and refuse to make bigger research.

I was tested for POTS and it was on the edge of unhealthy but wasn't enough for a diagnosis (even thought my heart jumps over 40 bpms, but I have a slow resting bpm + 40 is still "healthy")

I was tested for Orthostatic hypotension instead and informally diagnosed because my main doctor refused the diagnosis 'cause she doesn't believe in dysautonomia but the cardiologist still " diagnosed" me, I just didn't get the papers that had to pass through my main doctor.

Anyway all I know is that I constantly faint, and my blood pressure is constantly WAY under the normal range, and I'm someone that abuses salt... i put extra salt on EVERYTHING... I'll let you imagine how I'd be feeling if I wasn't a salt lover..

Hypertension runs in my family, my parents never experienced hypotension... they've always been dismissive, thinking its anxiety, telling me it's probably just dehydration, agreeing with my doctor's " it's normal for young women! totally healthy, even if you faint, it happens sometimes through early adulthood" words. "you're probably just hungry, drink or eat something" etc. CONSTANTLY trying to prove me that its all anxiety, with things she heard, things she read online, etc.

My mom had to double her hypertension medication because her body was bypassing it, now she's experiencing hypo tension for the first time... and she's so "dramatic" about it.

I know better than anyone that hypotension is not a joke, its not "dramatic" it really impacts your daily life and even if not directly live threatening like high blood pressure... but the ways she's acting? after all these years of dismissing me and calling me dramatic?? for some reason it gets me on the verge of tears.

She hasn't fainted once, never, I've fainted so much to the point it doesn't even scare me anymore, I've gotten used to faint and then swallow down a handfull of disgusting plain salt and carry on with my day because I'm forced to work, do my things, responsibilities, daily life etc, live goes on after all

But now shes complaining about how she can't keep going like this, she's gonna have to quit her job at this rate, and that she can't do house chores anymore, that she doesn't even feel like walking anymore because her body feels weak and tired!! She's constantly nauseous and refuses to eat some things because if it, even just sitting is tiring for her 'cause she gets dizzy! Won't stop talking about it, telling everyone that she's sick basically screaming at rooftops.

Mind you, she's 1 week into this low blood pressure lifestyle, my blood pressure is actually even lower than hers. Yet I'm forced to work, do chores, carry on with life.

I've been bedridden for 2 whole months during summer at some point because sitting was enough to faint, it turn pale and purple and faint just SITTING in my bed to eat, I'd faint at least 2 times on my way to the toilet and they all thought I was just overreacting and "scared" from my previous fainting experiences, basically that my anxiety was causing or worsening all these symptoms apparently...

I want to feel empathy but I can't really, I just feel frustrated and sad instead. Not even 1 month ago when she talked about doubling the dose of her meds I said that I hope it won't lower too much her blood pressure because it's hard to live with the other polar extreme, she told me living with hypotension wasn't hard at all and I was exaggerating my words, that the only bad side of it is the possibility of syncope or pre syncope but that it was totally manageable.

I just feel so dismissed and ignored, makes me want to cry. Everytime she's talking about her symptoms I try to "soft launch" like "oh, and it also feels ___ right? Yeah that's horrible, it's exactly how I tend to feel so I get it" "Yeah I know how it feels since I also have hypotension, It's really annoying" "Oh yeah, its definitely hypotension. I feel the same!" "do this, It helps, I do this for my hypotension" and every time she just ignores it and keeps talking about herself and how she can't keep going like this bla bla bla...

I just don't know how to react, don't know what to say or how to say it, I think I just needed to vent I don't know I'm just feeling so frustrated the more she "complains" the more angry I feel
