Could an outdoor profile / link page be useful for bikepackers?

Bike Tech and Kit

Hey everyone,

I’m one of the co-founders of MetaGear, so I’ll say that upfront.

MetaGear is an outdoor profile app - basically a personal outdoor page you can share with one clean link. The idea is to give outdoor people a place for their gear lists, routes, photos, links, social profiles instead of having everything scattered across spreadsheets, screenshots, and random notes.

It started mostly from hiking and backpacking (I’m a big fan of multi-day hikes), but we want it to make sense for other outdoor communities too. Bikepacking feels like one of the most natural ones.

Right now, a MetaGear profile can include things like:

  • gear lists and pack setups
  • routes
  • photos
  • links and social profiles
  • public gear list pages
  • weight stats and setup breakdowns

For a bikepacker, it could become already a simple public page for your rig, bags, routes, and links. But I’d really like to hear what would make this useful for your favorite activity specifically.

Would you want:

  • a bike setup / rig widget?
  • bags organized by position on the bike?
  • Activity- or gear-specific stats?
  • route-linked gear lists?
  • something completely different?

We also have a tiny subreddit where we post updates:

I read the self-promotion rule and I’m being direct about my connection to the project. I’m mainly here to understand whether this idea makes sense for bikepackers and what would make it genuinely useful.

Have a good day everyone 🙂
