Period symptoms coming back with a year left

So I’ve had my mirena in for 4 and a bit years with no bleeding at all and minimal period symptoms. I was told I have to have it out after 5 years, but I’m worried that my period may be coming back now.

For a bit of context, I have really awful periods, extreme cramps to the point where my legs go numb, I can’t get off the floor, multiple bouts of vomiting each day while sweating like I have a high fever but shivering like I’m in the arctic.

I’ve had no bleeding for the past 5 years, and the occasional cramps, not nearly as bad as they are without mirena, but I still would have to drop to the floor.

About a month ago I bled a little and had some worse cramps, but today I got extreme cramps and have begun bleeding a little more than last month.

Can this happen with almost a year left of the mirena? I’m seeing my doctor next week but really just want to know if anyone else has experienced this?
