My brother expects me to cover for him after he ruined a family business deal. What should I do?

Hey everyone, I’m in a really tight spot and I genuinely don't know what the right move is here. My head is spinning and I need some outside perspective.

To give you the short version: I work for a mid-sized logistics company, and last year I managed to get my younger brother a job here. He’s had a rough couple of years financially, so I really went to bat for him with the owners, essentially putting my own reputation on the line to guarantee he’d be a good fit.

For the first few months, things were great. But over the last eight weeks, he’s been slipping. Missing deadlines, showing up late, the usual warning signs.

Yesterday, he made a massive, negligent mistake on a contract for our largest client. It’s going to cost the company a lot of money, and when the dust settles, it's 100% going to trace back to his login and account.

Before management noticed, he came into my office completely panicking. He practically begged me to use my admin privileges to alter the system logs and shift the blame to a "system glitch" or take the fall for it myself, knowing that because of my seniority, I'd just get a slap on the wrist while he would immediately get fired. He literally looked me in the eye and said, "If I lose this job, I lose my apartment, and I have nowhere else to go."

I love my brother, and the thought of him being evicted breaks my heart. But modifying those logs is straight-up fraud. If I get caught doing that, I don't just get reprimanded,I get fired on the spot, my career in this industry is completely done, and I might even face legal issues.

I feel sick to my stomach. If I help him, I ruin my own life. If I don't help him, I ruin his, and my family will probably never forgive me for letting him drown when I "had the power to fix it."

Management is hosting the review meeting tomorrow morning at 9 AM. What should I do?
