My Suggestion for Gameloft about Legacy Starpaths

Discussion

Hellooo everyone! I have just submitted some feedback to Gameloft regarding starpaths and thought I'd post it here in case others were interested in this and also wanted to copy and paste it to gameloft to show the player desire for it!

I have leaned heavily into the business model and how it would benefit Gameloft (because we all know thats what businesses respond to most).

Here is the message:

Hi Dreamlight Valley Team,

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for creating such a wonderful game. I've spent countless hours in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and it's become one of my favourite games. I also recently had a fantastic experience with your support team, which inspired me to share an idea that I genuinely believe could benefit both players and Gameloft.

I'd love to see the introduction of Legacy Star Paths.

My suggestion would be to allow players to purchase and complete previous Star Paths that they missed. To preserve the excitement of new content, Legacy Star Paths could only be activated after completing the current Star Path, and only one Legacy Star Path could be active at a time.

I believe this would be beneficial for several reasons:

- Creates a new source of revenue from existing content. The Star Paths have already been designed, written, and developed. Allowing players to purchase access to previous Star Paths would generate ongoing revenue from content that already exists.

- Increases player retention. Once players finish the current Star Path, many naturally take a break until the next update. Legacy Star Paths would give players a reason to keep logging in, decorating, and completing duties between updates.

- Provides a welcoming experience for new and returning players. New players often discover years of incredible furniture, clothing, companions, and motifs that they can never obtain. Rather than feeling discouraged by permanently missed content, they could work towards earning those rewards at their own pace.

- Preserves the Star Path experience. Personally, I'd much rather earn the rewards by completing Star Path duties than simply purchasing individual items in the Premium Shop. The progression, challenges, and sense of achievement are a huge part of what makes Star Paths so enjoyable.

- Supports future Premium Shop and Moonstone sales. Players actively working through Legacy Star Paths are likely to remain engaged with the game, spend more time decorating, and continue purchasing Premium Shop items, Moonstones, and future expansions.

As for pricing, I think 3,300 Moonstones would feel like a fair balance. It's valuable enough to reflect the quality of the content while still being accessible for players who missed a Star Path. Alternatively, a one-time purchase of around £10 would also feel reasonable.

Most importantly, I don't believe Legacy Star Paths should simply unlock all of the rewards. Players should still complete every duty and earn every reward exactly as they would have when the Star Path originally launched. This preserves the satisfaction of completing a Star Path while giving players another reason to keep playing.

As someone who missed one of my favourite Star Paths, I know I would happily purchase Legacy Star Paths in the future, and I have no doubt many other players would too. I genuinely believe this would be a feature that benefits everyone: players get the opportunity to experience content they missed, while Gameloft gains a sustainable new source of revenue and increased long-term engagement.

Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion, and thank you again for continuing to support Disney Dreamlight Valley. I hope you'll consider the idea!

Kind regards

I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of this too!
