Using AI is not the same as transforming with AI. A team can use AI every day and still run the exact same business with slightly faster admin.

A lot of companies are mixing up adoption with transformation. Adoption is when people start using AI to write, summarise, search or automate small tasks. That can still be useful.

But transformation starts later, when the company changes how work is designed. That usually means roles shift, decisions move faster, hand offs get rebuilt and some work is stopped entirely because AI changes the economics of doing it. I

f your process is still the same, only with a chatbot bolted on top, that is usually adoption not transformation.

The distinction matters because the expected returns are different. Adoption gives quick wins. Transformation changes throughput, cost structure, service quality and sometimes even the business model.

Both are fine but it helps to be honest about which one you are actually doing.

Has anyone here seen a company genuinely redesign a process around AI rather than just add AI to it?
