File complaint kitchen
We’ve recently remodelled our kitchen at IKEA, everything was going smoothly, we chose our cabinets etc and received everything on time. When came time to get the quartz countertop installed, we were informed that the KASKER line that we initially chose with our IKEA kitchen planner personnel is out of production… Basically they replaced there KASKER line with the recycled glass composite countertop LOCKEBO without any warning overnight!
The problem is that we specifically designed our kitchen around the KASKER countertop, and we’re not convinced by the LOCKEBO range. To make things even more frustrating, our local IKEA doesn’t even have the LOCKEBO countertops on display yet, so we’re expected to choose a completely different product without being able to see it in person.
We’re now stuck with a finished kitchen but no countertop, no clear replacement, and no samples or showroom displays to help us decide what to do next.
What really disappointed us was the response from customer service. We were basically told, “Sorry, we can’t do anything to help you.” That was it. No alternatives, no explanation, no attempt to find a solution.
Has anyone else been caught out by this change? If so, what did IKEA do for you? Were you offered any alternatives or compensation? We’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences because at the moment we feel like we’ve been left in limbo.
