Working Under a New Boss

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts

I've been working in this office for 6 years now, and my boss (RO of my RO) was promoted to be a group director, overseeing her current department as well as another.

While I am happy for her, I've been grieving for her departure as well because she had been nurturing me despite my own junior position. I've grown a lot and had many opportunities because she saw potential in me.

In her place, a colleague at the level of my RO was promoted to replace her. I've worked under this colleague for a few months, and she was a real bitch to me the whole time. I've basically ignored her for the past 3 years but I was still able to keep professional when my boss assigned me to work with her.

Now that she is taking over my boss, I fear that my own development will be cut short, and I will be pushed aside in favour of others. It has not helped that upper management may decide to close and replace a major project that I'd pioneered and grown over the last 3 years.

Not really sure where I'm going with this, but I feel like its been a cruel joke. Ive always known that this bitch might get promoted someday, and that I would leave when it happens. But I had always thought it would take some time, and I could snag a final promotion before leaving.

Welps.
