I'm a long time lurker here, but I've been wanting to share my girlie, Leelou. She's a rescue from Many Tears in South Wales. She was used for breeding and then given up for adoption in an emaciated state with multiple eye ulcers and horrific BOAS amongst many other issues caused by utter neglect (the first two pictures are from her intake at the rescue and her first day at home). She's been with us since 2023 and during that time she's been through full BOAS surgery and multiple other procedures to get her to where she is today. We introduced Bobo (pug mix) 6 months after we rescued her (he is also a rescue via a UK charity), as she was desperate to play with other dogs when out on walks. He helped her to fully understand that she is safe and loved. The almost upside-down image of Leelou is from her first play session with Bo, she was having the time of her life! She is the sweetest, most intelligent, caring and cuddliest dog I've ever known. The last image is the reason she and her brother are with us. He was a Boston Terrier called Buggy. He was my first dog and a huge learning curve in relation to brachycephalic dogs. I had no idea what health issues can potentially come with the squishy face. I was naive and stupidly bought him from an irresponsible breeder. He had a lot of health struggles that we managed well for most of his life until we had to say goodbye in 2022. Our experience with him has given us the knowledge to help other brachy dogs which at first I was reluctant to do due to heartbreak, but I'm so glad I did. Leelou I love you!!! 💖🩷💖
