I fixed my chow atopic dermatitis without meds

My chow has chronic atopic dermatitis and I fixed most of the issue by myself, I thought I would share it because I’ve read about it nowhere and my vet didn’t know either.

She would pull her coat out with her teeth around her back and munch around her back paws, scratch her sides and munch her front paws nervously like she can´t stop. She also had black crust on her skin that peel off after months at one point. The allergy meds from the vet worked but are very expensive and it’s not a long term solution. I tried every kibble possible and followed my vet advice but it didn’t change anything, so I looked for alternatives and I managed to reduce symptoms a lot with an extract of Reishi mushroom. I found about it randomly when looking for sleep supplements. It’s very cheap compared the allergy meds and no side effects. I checked and it was safe for dogs, there are a few studies on like mice or humans for atopic dermatitis, I can’t remember, anyways so I tried it and it worked. I give her the dog size equivalent for human dose, for a few days, and the reduce by half, just like with the allergy med from my vet (apoquel). She occasionally scratch herself, munch once a day instead of 20 times a day and the black crust is completely gone. If the symptoms come back, I give her again for like 2 weeks (because it’s not good to supplement all the time), it takes about a day to take effect. The extract is an organic hydro-alcoholic double extract. I put it in her kibble.
