The classic sonic games: Sonic Origins Plus on Switch, or emulate on Retroid Nova?
Keep in mind that this is not a financial question, I already own Sonic Origins Plus and I have already pre-ordered the Nova. I'm just curious which experience Sonic fans thinks will be better:
-
Emulating the OG sonic games on a 4:3 screen, for that classic handheld experience (I love an on-the-go 2D platformer, I'd have save states, and I already plan on playing Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on my Nova so it would make it my dedicated Sonic device for a while)
-
Just playing Sonic Origins Plus on my Switch, not as portable but giving me access to quality of life updates, and they even use little animations and features to string the games together to easily go from one to the next.
I'm not sure if anyone who's done both has any thoughts. From what I understand Sonic Origins had some criticisms from it's release but those are mostly resolved, and now it's considered a strong collection and the definitive way to play. I'm just not sure how many games I want to reserve for my fancy emulator that's coming that I shouldn't have spent my money on
