New Founders Advice: Don't get overwhelmed with metrics
I've been in this game for a long time, tried all kinds of ads and things with very little success. Cold outreach, still is the number one way to get your first 50-100 customers.
The problem when you are just starting, you obsess over metrics, analytics, and keep refreshing dashboards, and then get depressed when nothing happens!
Stop overthinking things; just make sure your messaging is clear, both your messaging to prospects and the messaging above the fold on your website.
Then send 50 emails a day to prospects and be patient. This works, just be patient.
If you've sent 500 emails and get nowhere, then it's probably time to pivot, but don't look at this in a negative way. Succeeding just once after 99 failures is still success!
PS: Initially, before you build, you should also think about your ICP. Often it's distribution that kills most SaaS businesses, not so much the idea.
If you're a new founder and need help. Feel free to reach out; I can test your website, give feedback on your landing page, etc...
