Is it me or my learning method?
Heyy everyone
I'm a grad student trying to learn Spanish around my schoolwork. I'm about two months in (doing maybe 20 min most days), and I've hit a wall and I can't tell if it's me or the method.
I started on Duolingo like everyone does. But it’s not sticking and feels like I'm memorizing disconnected words with nothing holding them together.
Anyway, then I downloaded a bunch of other free apps, and they all gave me the same feeling. The isolated vocab, nothing linking the words to anything I'd say.
The one thing that's working so far, though, is a weekly class, because we work in full sentences and real situations.
So I think tthat I learn better from sentences than from word lists. But a class once a week isn't enough on its own.
What I can't figure out is how to fill the days between classes with something that works the same way, sentence and conversation-based. I’ve seen a lot of best free Spanish learning apps lists but the ones I’ve tried still feel the same.
So before I waste another month, is the fix a different kind of app, or is it just more hours in the format I've got?
And if it's a different kind, what worked for you, especially anyone who also felt like the vocab-drill apps were going nowhere?
