Why do I face passive aggressiveness for not being the "stereotype" of a gay man and other lgbt+ people assuming I'm straight and not gay?

So the title.

For context this question has come from me going to gay bars to karaoke and people literally asking me (has happened twice) if I'm comfortable surrounded by gay people.

What made me lose it is that I went to an improv show to a gay bar and the actors said we could scream "more gay" or "more straight" to affect the acting, everyone laughed when people said "more gay" but the moment I said it there was tension and it felt weird (from an audience pov, the performers were lovely)

For context I don't dress as most other lgbt+ guys I've seen on the gay street and I have a deep AF voice + I'm PoC in case that matters.

This has happened in Vancouver, which surprised me as I thought people would be less biased / jumping into stereotypes but truly I've met the most rude people here haha.
