How do you define “blended family”?

My partner and I disagree on my situation: they live with me and my kids, who are with me full time. Since I am in a somewhat high conflict “coparenting”situation, my partner says we aren’t blended. They don’t feel like they know their role in our home.

It made me wonder, is there a different term for our configuration? There are lot of families in duress in this sub, are some blended and others are not?
