Trying to Invoke Mission Act to Get Urgent Care for Cat Bite
Hey. I got bit by a cat about 40 minutes ago. Drew blood. I did all the stuff you're supposed to do. But I need antibiotics and it's already starting to bother me. I don't drive, VA hospital is a ways away and it'll cost a pretty penny via Uber.
The VA urgent care site is down so I'm not sure which doc-in-a-box to go to.
I was previously told I had to "get clearance" for urgent care visits not related to a service-connected disability. I also don't know where to go for the care or where I'll pick up the meds.
I called the VA number for Mission Act. Was incorrectly told I needed to be transferred to a live agent elsewhere by the slowest talking rep I've ever encountered who verified my information 3x. The rep I was transferred to took the call but then told me I should've been transferred to (exactly where I came from). So I called back and I'm in a 45 minute queue. Because the agents are busy helping other customers.
Any suggestions? I vaguely recall going to a UC center a while back (same company, different location) and I'm about to head there and see if they still accept Mission Act and then trying to get permission in reverse. This is ridiculous.
