No Medications Work
My 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD about 4 years ago. Since that time, she has tried every category of medication (both stimulant and non-stimulant) for ADHD, anxiety, and depression and they’ve either had seemingly no effect or negative effects.
Within the past year, her sensory issues and general feelings of overwhelm have increased significantly to the point where she has missed many days of school due to “school avoidance”. Her psychiatrist recently updated her diagnosis to include autism and we’re now navigating how to get her the proper accommodations at school.
I guess my question is - can any of you relate? Once you had your full AuDHD diagnosis, did it change anything about your approach to medications or coping strategies? What has helped you? What hasn’t? Thanks for any insight you can provide. Beta blockers have been recommended, which is something we will explore.
