A Word of Caution for Any Job Seekers at Nemours
Back in May, I applied for a position at Nemours. (Not in healthcare, but in a separate department, a field in which I have 13+ years of directly related experience.)
Utterly one of the WORST interview processes ever that was a complete waste of time for both parties. The application process started with lengthy personality/work aptitude and IQ questionnaires. Then, I was contacted for a phone screening, a first interview, and second interview, and what I was told was going to be a final interview.
But then, they tacked on a fifth 15-minute Zoom call. This process spanned the course of THREE months. After the FIFTH interview, I was called with a follow-up question about whether I'm actively in a Masters program. When I said I was not but would consider, I was told, "Yeah, I think I have to take you out of the running then" and "HR will have a problem with this. I actually want to repost the job and change the requiement to must hold Masters, because if you were to get hired and go aroudnd saying you don't have your Masters, that just wouldn't look good". Who says that directly to a candidate?!
So, you mean to tell me that in wasting THREE months of my time and the effort of FOUR interviews AND performance tasks, not one person could have asked me if I was pursuing a Masters sooner? Not one of the SEVEN people I interviewed with could take the time to look at my resume and see that I have a Graduate Certificate, but not my Masters? I have over 13 years of experience in the field and after a crappy job hunting experience, this one took the cake! I will be keeping my expertise parked right at my current position, where at least my time and skills are valued.
Let's also not forget to mention that after 4 rounds of interviews, two performance tasks, IQ tests, etc. they did not once share a single detail about the benefits, schedule, salary, or even salary range. Not in conversation, not in the job description. This is not how you attract quality candidates. I understand that experience does not always equate to a degree in this field, but when a job description says, "will be considered at leadership discretion", that to me, is code for being a go-getter and seeing where your experience leads! I've been offered jobs that REQUIRED a Masters in hand even though I didn't have one!
Just posting this as a word of caution to anyone looking for jobs in the area with this organization. I wish someone could have warned me.
