My Personal Ranking of all Cedar Point Coasters

Discussion

So for some context going in, I’m fairly new to the roller coaster community. I used to despise anything above like 100 feet and got over that fear about 1-2 years ago. This is not my homepark, and I came up for about 2 days total over 3 days without a fast lane. I didn’t bother with woodstock or wilderness run since I was busy getting rerides on things I knew would be better. And I’d like to say this before anyone goes to the comments to belittle me for their favorite coaster being lower than they believe: I did not once have a bad ride experience. There’s nothing I found unbearably rough or didn’t enjoy. All of the rides that are in the middle are VERY. close in terms of enjoyment and I‘ll probably swap a few around making this list.

  1. Corkscrew (1 ride)

For Corkscrews’ 50th birthday, it goes to the bottom of the list. Something has to be at the bottom. The line was basically non-existent (as well as magnum which I found odd). To me, there’s better rides here. It had small pops of airtime on the hill and first drop, and decent forces throughout. The seats are kind of uncomfortable. The corkscrew feels honestly more like an element put in because it’s cool than something fun for the riders. It is a cool element though.

  1. Wild Mouse (1 ride)

I’ve always liked the wild mouses for the lateral forces that feels like you’ll fly out of the seat. It’s quite crazy, but very weak in other forces. The spinning part is unique to me and made me a little dizzy.

  1. Blue Streak (1 ride)

Blue Streak was another very fun ride, but at a park with such a good lineup, it falls lower on the list. Good pacing, and classic woodie floater airtime. Rough, but in a fun way rather than painful.

  1. Cedar Creek Mine Ride (1 ride)

Very scenic coaster combined with classic Arrow jank makes for something pretty enjoyable. The animatronics at the end are

  1. Iron Dragon (1 ride)

Being one of four in all of North America, it’s a dying coaster model and seeing it go would be a little sad, but I feel like they never reached the true potential of this model. They’re all fun because of the swinging, but the forces aren’t anything special, especially this one. I really want to put it higher on the list, but it feels more like a stepping stone for better coasters rather than being at the top.

  1. Gemini (1 ride)

Basically just a large mine train that races. A shocking amount of airtime and the trains are probably a little too close to each other. Also the red side seems to roll into the station much faster than blue which gets stopped on the brake run, which could spark fun arguments on who actually won. Likely not intentional though.

  1. Rougarou (1 ride)

With how much I hate standups (VORTEX AT CW), I’m glad this one was converted to a floorless. Quite a fun ride, but definitely has a little rattle that could result in minimal beadbanging after the mid-course. You also sit oddly close to the person next to you, which is probably from the conversion to floorless.

  1. Valravn (1 ride)

Even though it’s the middle of the list, this ride is where the better coasters on this list would dominate a lot of other parks. Hard to remember since I got hit by about 15 bugs and had to squint the entire time, but hanging over the drop is really only replicated by one other ride at the park. The drop is powerful, and has a lot of the classic B&M grace you see with their newer rides.

  1. Gatekeeper (1 ride)

Maybe it’s just because I haven’t done many wing coasters, but sitting over the edge and to the side of the track is just so different for me. The drop is quite strong, and the keyholes feel like some of the closest things i’ve ever been to, even though I knew I wouldn’t hit them. Also has a short wait time most days.

  1. Magnum XL-200 (2 rides)

I originally had this above Maverick, but after thinking back, this really just didn’t hit like Maverick. After going from the back to row 3, this definitely improved, but not enough to get past the other coasters on the list. The roughness for me wasn’t super bad, and those airtime hills hit a little less than I originally thought before going here, but definitely powerful. Not painful airtime for me.

  1. Maverick (1 ride)

Before all of the Maverick fans riots this placement, I enjoyed this ride a lot. The snaps are very fun elements and this would be a top 3 for almost every other park. However, after hearing the stories of its intensity and crazy inversions, it really just didn’t hit for me. The most memorable part for me was the boost up to 70. No one talks about that part, but it’s probably the fastest launch i’ve experienced, rivalling Powder Keg (which I sadly don’t remember too well).

(Raptor would probably go here if I had the chance to ride it. I loved afterburn a lot and the style of older B&M‘s. Sucks it wasn’t open for all 3 of the days I was there).

  1. Millennium Force (2 rides)

After the 2 other gigas i’ve done, I expected it to be quite similar, but it seems intamin does it different from B&M. Hearing people call it Millennium Forceless just seems a little absurd to me. I greyed out for like 8 seconds on the pullout from the first drop and the overbank. It mainly goes with decent positives and a few sustained floater hills.

  1. Top Thrill 2 (2 rides)

Wow. Just wow. The speed and height of this coaster back when it was built probably seemed utterly terrifying to most people. I would’ve loved the hydraulic launch from 0-120 in ~3.8 seconds, but the spike adds a little more to the ride. The speed still feels incredible and looking around on the top hat has to be one of the best views in any theme park, seeing the lake and nothing else blocking the view. Zamperla did an incredible job remaking this. Not having a seatbelt is a little scary in its own way though.

  1. Siren‘s Curse (3 rides)

Vekoma going from a company you should probably actively avoid to this is shocking. Comparing this to any of their older models just feels unfair to them. The theming is great, and the tilt is insane. The rides onboard music being rock is also somehow fitting. It makes sense why people seem to flood this at night, especially with the lights on the trains too (even though you can’t see it on the trains, it adds a lot while waiting in the queue). The water is a little nasty looking, but it’s not like you go in it.

  1. Steel Vengeance (3 rides)

Watching a 40 minute video about it AND the ride pov multiple times somehow doesn’t do it justice. Hearing there’s almost 30 seconds of airtime is so different from feeling it. The only two problems I have with it are the restraints and the fact that I saw loose boards in the queue on the drop. They probably don’t change anything, but it was a little weird seeing those knowing I’d be barreling down the drop in half an hour.

If you stuck to the end, thanks for reading my opinions on each ride. Again, out of all the coasters I did, I didn’t have a single bad experience. Sure they might be a little rough, but that doesn’t make it a bad coaster. At the end of the day, these are just feelings I had from hunks of metal that loop around all day. I’d love to read thoughts about specific rides or where you think they are.
