We almost gave backstage access to the wrong people because of one phone call

Other

Last summer I was helping out at an event where someone called asking for a few names to be added to the backstage list. They knew the artist's name knew who they were asking for sounded completely confident and nobody thought twice about it at first. Luckily someone on our team decided to call the artist's actual manager before making the change and it turned out the request wasn't legitimate.

Ever since then I've been a lot less comfortable making last minute access changes over the phone, especially when everyone is stressed and trying to get doors open. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Curious if your venue has a formal process for verifying those requests now. One of the security companies we work with talked about Trust Kibu but I'm interested in what people are actually using day to day.
