3 weeks post-op, is using a Naväge safe after septoplasty?
I’m currently about 3 weeks post-op from my septoplasty (with turbinate reduction and sinus work). After my stents were removed, I went back to using saline rinses.
Before surgery, I regularly used a Naväge (the battery-powered nasal rinse system that pushes saline through one nostril and uses suction to pull it out the other side). My doctor said there wasn’t a specific reason I couldn’t use it after surgery (5 days after), but I’m still a little cautious because of the suction component.
Over the last few days, I’ve used it a few times, and it seems to remove a lot more mucus/drainage compared to my NeilMed squeeze bottle. However, I’m wondering if the suction could potentially be too aggressive while things are still healing.
Has anyone else used a Naväge around the 3-week mark after septoplasty? Did your ENT approve it, and did you notice any issues compared to a regular saline squeeze bottle?
