Need Advice: Toxic CS Articleship – Continue or Leave?

Advice

I recently joined an advisory company in Noida for my CS articleship. However, my training agreement is registered under a PCS based in South Delhi, who only visits the office occasionally.

The first few days seemed fine. On my 6th day, I was asked to sign the training agreement, and it was uploaded to the ICSI portal the same day. The agreement also includes a clause stating that if I leave, I have to pay 3 months' stipend, which I'm not sure is even valid under ICSI rules.

Now, after about 15 days, I've started seeing the real work culture. The boss regularly shouts at trainees, humiliates them in front of everyone, and creates a very stressful environment. Even small things, like an extra light being left on or a PC not being switched off, are enough for him to yell at the staff. The entire office seems stressed and demotivated.

Today, a female trainee asked for 2 days' leave to attend her cousin's wedding. Instead of discussing it professionally, the boss shouted at her, told her to choose between the wedding and her articleship, and even said, "NOC leke dikha dena, main NOC hi nahi dunga."

This has made me seriously question whether I should continue here.

A few questions:

  • Should I continue or start looking for another articleship?
  • Can a principal legally refuse to issue an NOC?
  • Does ICSI actually take action in cases where trainees face harassment or an abusive work environment?

I'd really appreciate advice from CS trainees or professionals who have dealt with similar situations.
