How to exist in a club/bar alone?
Im 26 ftm nb, and didnt really start going out until a couple of years ago due to covid and where I lived at the time. I can go with friends just fine, but I just stick to them the whole time, and I have *no* idea how to exist in one of these spaces alone. I live in Minneapolis now, so theres plenty of night life for me to choose from, and I wanna go to a themed dance night or a club or even just a gay bar and just have fun, meet people, maybe make out with a stranger. But like how do i... do that? How do I try to approach someone if I see a hot person on the dance floor? How do I know if someone's trying to flirt with *me* on the dance floor? If I go outside to smoke, how do I not look awkward just standing all alone? At either type of place, am I closing myself off if I go on my phone if Im alone on the patio? Honestly just any aspect of being in a bar/club by myself and interacting with other people/picking up on how other people might interact with me, ESPECIALLY in any nonverbal sense like on the dance floor, im not *scared* of going i just dont know anything about how to go about it or how to read other people in that environment and could use some tips (good queer party space reccomendations welcome as well)
(Also half off topic, are you supposed to keep your eyes closed when youre dancing alone or open? Ive done like half open so I can still see people around me but also space out and enjoy the music, is that right?)
