Speech and language therapy BSc

I’m considering studying the BSc Speech and Language Therapy course at City, University of London, and I’d love to hear from current students or graduates.

Before committing to the course, what are the biggest things you wish you’d known? Are there any drawbacks, challenges, or “disclaimers” that prospective students should think about carefully before applying?

What are the top signs that speech and language therapy is genuinely the right career for someone? Are there any misconceptions about the profession that people often have?

I’d also love to know more about the placements. What settings did you complete placements in (e.g. NHS hospitals, schools, community clinics, mental health services, care homes)? How were placements allocated, how much travelling was involved, and what kinds of clients and conditions did you work with?

Finally, if you could give one piece of advice to someone considering the BSc at City, University of London, what would it be?
