I'm not saying it means anything on purpose, these are just my thoughts as someone who's watched Breaking Bad way too many times. I find it interesting that Jax places himself in Walter's role in this, despite Jesse being a much closer parallel to Jax.

Toxic masculinity is a huge theme in BB. Walter White claims to do things for his family, but deep down he just enjoys the power and does not care who he hurts along the way. He clings to this idea of being The Man Who Provides to justify his love of being The One Who Knocks.

Jesse on the other hand is shown to have a soft center that he protects by leaning into his role as The Bad Guy. Jesse believes he is good for nothing except being a criminal, in part due to how his parents treated him. They claim to love and support him while at the same time disowning him and kicking him out of his house. Everyone he gets close to eventually ends up getting hurt just by proximity. He reinforces his belief that his given role in life is the villain who causes pain for fun, when in reality he has shoved down his true feelings and passions that make him vulnerable. With each person he loses, he doubles down on his ruthless persona and makes worse decisions and actions until he ends up in a literal cage with nearly everyone he cares about dead. His happy ending only comes with abandoning his former life and identity as Jesse Pinkman.

Again, don't think it's supposed to be that deep or even notable. I'm just havin' fun.
