The Perfection of the GB versus the Imperfections of the Elders
Finally watched the broadcast cause an elder I am talking with through email said I needed to to get the answers to my questions (they didn't answer them). However there was something that caught my attention.
Okay actually the first thing that jumped out to me is how bad the talks are. Luccioni has seriously degraded as a speaker, he is no longer interesting to listen to. Just a rapid fire explosion of words read off a screen. The talks format was terrible as well. But that's not what really stood out to me.
I have been formulating a theory for a few months about the reason for the creation of JW Broadcasting, and I won't go too deep into it yet until I am ready to post the whole thing, but I did want to bring up one thing in the talk that was relevant to it. Namely, when the question comes up about how we will respond if the direction is not directly from the Governing Body. What was said next actually shocked me, they said it might be hard to accept it from elders or COs, because we "know their personality, their imperfections."
How this relates to what I've been theorizing is that the organization has been trying to pull away from trust in local elders and COs, and focusing on loyalty to the concept of the organization above all else. What is fascinating is that JW Broadcasting allows people to develop borderline parasocial relationships with the GB and their helpers. This comment solidifies that - people don't know the personality of them, or their imperfections. This makes them easier to listen to when the direction is difficult.
I found it interesting that that was as close to an open acknowledgement of that as we can get. The rest of the program I didn't find that interesting, it mostly was all the same stuff they've been preaching for decades, but that specific comment on the elders and COs I found really fascinating. Doubt it means anything significant doctrinally, but it is an interesting thing for them to say aloud.
