Family Day Question

Apologies if this has already been explained or if this is a stupid question, but I’m a recent LI watcher (only seen season 6-8)… when it comes to family day, are the islander’s families instructed to not tell them anything about what the public is saying about them? Like what’s stopping Melanie/Sincere’s family from saying that America does not like them together lol
