New to Reddit, trying out the Editable post flair

What is the purpose of an editable flair for posts? I'm guessing it's so you can change it later, but when/why would I need to do that?

Also, if there is any reddit lingo, or things I should know as I start exploring different communities would be awesome! TYIA!
