Change in country with max stay after Schengen visa approval

I applied with the Netherlands as my main destination and entry point based on my planned itinerary. After my visa was issued, my travel plans changed and I may now spend more nights in Austria. I will still visit the Netherlands as planned and it will be the entry point. Is this acceptable, or do I need to take any action? Should I email the embassy of the Netherlands?
