Quant How To Guide and can it be done

I’m currently a 20 year old college sophomore in NYC from CCNY. I majored mechanical engineering for 2 years and I hated it, I’ve decided to change my major to Finance with a minor in Computer Science since I do like Comp Sci material. With that in mind, what is the best how to guide to becoming a Quant by age 30, if it can even be done. I know it sounds highly unrealistic but for the sake of it I would like to know exactly what should be my next step to fulfilling the goal of joining Quant Finance.
