14mm endometrial polyp, 6-12 month wait to even see the OBGYN
I am feeling very frustrated and would love some input on my situation.
My husband (31/m) and I (31/f) have been trying for 10 months. I had seen an amazing OBGYN a few years ago after an ovarian cyst rupture - it's the only time I've ever had one, but I had just gotten a hormonal IUD removed so we agreed it was most likely a side effect of the abrupt hormone change. During that time, she also saw some indication of potential adenomyosis, but based on my symptoms and timing, she felt it was not a significant concern. She did, however, say that she would begin fertility testing after I'd been trying for 6 months, rather than the usual 12.
We weren't ready to start trying right away, but when we did and 7 months had gone by, I called her office. I was told that it has been too long since my last appointment, so I will need a new referral to see her. I didn't even have a family doctor (last referral was through urgent care), so I began the process of finding a family doctor, registering with them, and doing all the preliminary appointments. I was then sent for bloodwork and an ultrasound, and they scheduled a semen analysis for my husband. The ultrasound revealed no sign of adenomyosis or cysts, and ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc. all looked normal. However, it did reveal a 14mm endometrial polyp.
The doctor of course sent the referral through to that OBGYN... who then let me know I won't even hear from them to even SCHEDULE an appointment for 6-12 months. THEN I would still have to schedule the polypectomy and wait for that.
I'm just so frustrated. Coming up on a year of trying, finding something that could indeed prevent pregnancy, and then realizing that the solution to that problem is still a year or more away, plus however much time it takes to get pregnant after that, and then hoping that the pregnancy sticks. I'm watching friends and relatives around me get pregnant after a few months of trying, while I stare down the barrel of several years to go, and a myriad of appointments and tests and procedures and treatments... I'm tired. I'm angry. I'm a little heartbroken.
