Do you take your drone into fights or park it at the entrance?

I used to take my drone with me when clearing zombies, but I found it interfered with fights too much. It kept getting in the way, blocking my swings and shots. So I removed all the combat/healing/support mods, installed a bunch of cargo mods instead, and now I just use it as a flying suitcase and park it at the entrance before going in.
