Used car: where are the days of sub £500 used motors?

Literally every second hand car I see these days is upwards of a grand. I know every single thing in this country’s increased in price to silly levels but cars are taking the biscuit. Seeing 20 year old clapped out bangers at £2/3000.

I remember and miss when actually getting any level of car was affordable
