Transition from AE to AM

Hi all,

Currently an AE working Strategic Partnerships with COIs at a big tech company. I've been considering a transition into an AM role at one of our biggest enterprise competitors. I'm curious about what people have experienced when doing the same transition-- I'm getting a bit burnt out by the constant hunting for new business and COI relationships, and I think I would appreciate having a set client list with opportunity to cross-sell and retain clients. My goal is to move into the Enterprise space and work on more business development rather than active sales.

I currently have a great work life balance. My current company culture is pretty lax and I have a ton of free time outside of work. I put in an honest 40 hour work week, have successfully attained my quota for the past two years, and don't take my work home with me (much). This new company I'm interviewing with has a reputation for being very fast-paced and high stress-- though the total compensation would be slightly higher than what I currently make. I can already tell it'll be a tough decision for me to make if all goes well and I end up getting an offer.

Would love to get your thoughts, I know this thread has a ton of highly experienced AEs/AMs, so I appreciate any feedback you might have!
