Do PW collectors like polished cases and refinished dials?

Hello. I’m getting into pocket watch collecting and I see some watches for sale on eBay that are in pristine condition. I think they might be refurbished. Should I be looking for watches with patina or are nicer examples better to collect? Thanks!
