Crashed Mini 2, Gimbal Issues. Fixable?
Hey all,
So, I know things like this have been asked, but I read through them and was unable to get a definitive direction.
I‘ve had my mini 2 for 3 1/2 years now. I take very good care of my stuff, and have never had any issues with it.
I let my partner borrow it after meeting with her twice in a field and showing her the basics. 6 minutes after she began flying by herself, I get a text that she ‘crashed it’. Turns out she just backed it into a tree and broke propellors on one arm and scratched the rest. No biggie, I guess. I got it back a few days ago, changed the props, and now it’s giving me some other issues.
The gimbal states that it’s stuck. It initiates on startup and looks fine, but after that, nothing. It moves freely by hand and during startup, but even after a thorough cleaning and canned air session, nothing. I read it may be a ribbon cable, so I ordered a new one but am dreading that task. I did pop it open, and the entire visible length of the cable looks to be in good shape, so I’m not sure.
The RC says it needs calibration, but I cannot calibrate it. This is new as well. The sticks are fine, but the dial for the camera pitch isn’t registering. MAYBE its an issue tied to the gimbal? The controller is in great shape.
Does anyone have any pointers on addressing this? I’m about 7 months out of warranty. Im handy, but this thing feels really fragile and the workspace is small and cramped.
If it is cooked, I could use some advice on where to go next. Do I get another Mini 2 if I can find it? I’ve got the fly more combo and 6 total batteries. I’d like them not to be a total loss if possible. Are there drone repair companies? I’ve searched a bit in Metro Atlanta, but haven’t found any reliable looking places.
Thank you in advance for any tips/advice.
