Iron Wayfarer Umbral ending

I've been working towards the umbral ending and so far everything is going well. But, I just got the iron wayfarer to rhe vestige of ferrers the chard in manse and he is only repeating his 1 final line from the last spot I saw him which was in calrath at the base of the ladder leading to skyrest. Is that normal? Did I mess something up? I really don't want to mess this ending up and him only saying that one line has me a little worried.
