Hey everyone, I'm having trouble getting a satisfying red. It's not very obvious in the pic, but I keep ending up with a sort of terracotta tone, and the highlights drift toward an orange-ish saturation and not the gorgeous bloody red.

I'm using Vallejo paints exclusively, applied with an airbrush. My original approach was:

  • Base coat: Scarlet Red over grey primer
  • First highlight: a mix of Scarlet Red and Bloody Red
  • Second (brightest) highlight: pure Bloody Red

Since that wasn't giving me the result I wanted, I also tried a different paint like gory red ou scarlet blood. Unfortunately this didn't solve the issue either.

Has anyone run into this with these Vallejo reds? Is there a way to get better result (without using ink ou oil paint )?
