Our work used to have these massage chairs that were free to use on breaks during the day. Every time I would go to use them or even walk by there was always this one guy that would be using the chair while working. He would either be replying to emails, making calls or just scrolling (I assume he was on break).

Then this one time, he was fully reclined in the massage chair, with the back rub setting enabled whilst on on a Teams Meeting call with a bunch of others. From glance, it seemed pretty serious cause they had the PowerPoint being shared and some of the top dogs in the company on the call whilst he was just sitting there with his camera off half dazed. Anyways whenever he had something to say or chime in, he would click the massage remote to bring the chair up from its recline, then would come off mute, say his piece, mute himself again and then click the massage remote to go back to recline.

I couldn't beleive this fella and was almost in tears just watching him. I know that you can get away wearing pajamas when WFH or be petting your cat whilst on a call at home, but to be on a massage chair at work taking some important calls is another level.

Keep in mind the company is paying this guy well into 6 digits for his work and hours he puts in. The least he could do is maybe sit at a desk while taking the call? Or am I being a little far fetched. Nevertheless that image of him coming up and back from his recline will never fade from my memory.

Yay or nay - Massage Chairs at work?
