I thought I had closure after a year. Then I learned something that completely changed how I saw my breakup.
I really need unbiased opinions because I don't know what to think anymore.
This happened when I was in 10th grade.
I was dating a guy, and things seemed normal until one day, in the middle of our 10th board exams, he randomly blocked me. No explanation. No goodbye. Nothing.
Imagine preparing for one of the biggest exams of your life while also wondering why someone you cared about suddenly disappeared. I spent so long wondering what I did wrong. I replayed every conversation in my head, thinking maybe I had said something that made him leave.
Eventually, I forced myself to move on because I had no other choice. We didn't talk for over a year.
Then, about a month ago, I was talking to my friend, who's dating one of his close friends. That's when I found out something I had absolutely no idea about.
Apparently, when our relationship was discovered, his parents were physically beating him over it. They took away his phone, and he eventually had to make a completely new account just to contact people.
I genuinely never knew any of this.
For an entire year, I thought he had just decided to block me and leave. Now I'm sitting here wondering if everything I believed was wrong.
At the same time, I'm also confused because... even if all of that happened, I still never got an explanation. I was still left completely in the dark. So part of me feels guilty for assuming the worst, but another part of me remembers how hurt I was because I genuinely had no idea what was going on.
I'm not making this post because I want to get back with him. I don't even know if that's possible or if it's a good idea.
I think I'm just struggling with the fact that I finally got information I wish I'd had a year ago. It completely changed how I look at the breakup, and now it feels like all the closure I built for myself is falling apart.
Has anyone else ever found out long after a breakup that there was a lot more going on than you realized? Did it help you move on, or did it just make everything more confusing?
I'd really appreciate honest opinions because I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to process this.
