Should I stop communicating with my friend?
So I have a friend that I've known for about 4 years now. For the first two years I never really said that much about myself or how I feel about things. While my friend did. This isn't where the problem starts, it starts when my friend made me upset with stuff she continuously did and I finally spoke up about it. She just told me " It was obviously a joke" or made excuses about why she does it.
Like I told her it annoys me how whenever we call, sometimes she'll tell me to stay on the phone but will ignore me and talk to her family for over an hour. To which she just made excuses for saying this is what close families do. Which I think is a weird thing to say since I'm close to my family but wouldn't do that to a friend.
Another problem is when she says something hurtful and then when I bring it up later just acts like it doesn't count if I didn't bring up on the exact day it happens. I'll admit sometimes I could say things sooner but usually it's only a few weeks to a month after it happens. Now she says that she doesn't want to make jokes around me because I just take everything so seriously.
For reference two of the things she's joked about is saying how I was lucky my mom only suffered violent domestic abuse once instead of daily. Or when we are discussing a topic and she just says I wouldn't know because of my education. She has told me both of things must've been taken out of context and I misunderstood her.
Am I being too sensitive for bringing things up weeks later, or is it reasonable to expect a friend to take my feelings seriously even if I don't mention them immediately? How can I handle this without ending the friendship?
