Egg freezing process with high follicles count - risks

Hi everyone! I’m 33 and about to start my first egg freezing cycle. My AMH is 4.0 ng/mL and my AFC is 42.

I have a history of PCOS, but my cycles have been regular for the past few years.

I’m excited to begin this journey, but I’m also feeling pretty nervous. My doctor mentioned that having a high follicle count can come with higher risks, since the follicles may respond too well and cause OHSS or never respond to stimulation medications at all. Hearing about possible risks like OHSS, along with the uncertainty that there are no guaranteed outcomes (including the possibility of not getting usable eggs), has made me a little anxious.

I would love to hear from anyone with similar numbers:

  • How many eggs were retrieved, and how many were mature?
  • Did you experience OHSS? what were your symptoms?
  • How was your recovery, and how long did it take you to feel back to normal?
  • Did you also feel nervous about the risks and uncertainty before starting?

Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
