Evaluate my essay: TASK 2
[Some people believe that governments should have access to people’s mobile phone call records and messages for safety reasons. Others believe that this information is private and should not be available without permission.Discuss both these views and give your opinion.]
While it is often considered by some that the government should have full legal access to the public's digital records, others believe that it would violate their privacy. In my opinion, the government should only have authorized access when there is a trial or need of evidence to ensure justice.
On the one hand, people argue that if the government could have access to people's phone calls and messages safety will increase. This is because police will be able to catch criminals and prevent attacks before they occurs. To illustrate, the police force can listen to calls between burglars and intercept their plan. Ultimately, people's lives will be saved from crimes that pose a serious threat. Building on this idea, collecting nesseccery evidence for the jury will be easier and fast-paced. Therefore, justice will be implemented faster and innocent individuals will not be wrongly accused.
On the other hand, the public will lose trust in the government if this policy is put into action. This is mainly due to the concerns of invading people's privacy and personal lives, as it takes away the freedom of talking without restrictions. For example, people will feel uncomfortable calling or texting each other, as they are aware that someone it over-listening to their conversation. Furthermore, data could be sold or hacked by other governments’ systems, as a result of a weak cybersecurity measures.
To conclude, I believe that the government should not have access to people's socials or phones, instead it should only be allowed through the justice system in case of a crime.
