From Manchester airport to Lyme Park

I'll be flying into Manchester Airport on a Sunday morning in September. My final destination is Liverpool, but I'd like to visit Lyme Park first.

Would it make sense to leave my suitcase at the airport's left luggage facility for the day and take the 199 bus from the airport to Disley? Then, after visiting Lyme Park, I could return to the airport, collect my suitcase, and continue on to Liverpool. Does that sound like a good plan?
