As the title says, yesterday I went in for surgery to get my infected rod removed. 

I went from debilitating pain that made me barely able to walk, bend down to grab things, turn over, get out of bed, or even sleep...to feeling like I'm at 95% of my normal abilities and function, INSTANTLY. Like I could have done jumping jacks in that recovery room, lol. I feel like a new man. I only experience minor twinges occasionally, which I am confident will go away over the next week.

I'm so glad that I kept bothering my care team. Moral of the story is that if you are deeply convinced that something is wrong, trust your gut and keep advocating for yourself. You know your body best.

I'm also amazed just how little the shape of my dick has changed now that the rod is removed. I thought it would be flatter or something since they removed a whole cylinder from it, but nope! It's the same as I have known it to be the whole time. It was a very atraumatic process.  

They sent my rod and the fluid in for testing/cultures, so we'll see what that comes back with. It's likely just some normal skin bacteria that went rogue and had a party in there. 

So yeah, I'm doing great now! I even get to work out again in a couple of weeks, which I am SO excited for. But for now I am settling for some long walks and it feels amazing to get moving again :)

But that said, I don't know if I am in a hurry to get a replacement ED now, if ever. I'd have to wait 6+ months to heal before I get a new one, which would put me in the next calendar year for insurance. And I can't afford another year of maximum out of pocket surgery expenses right now. Plus this was a terrible enough experience that I don't feel like potentially dealing with it again any time soon. I'll likely try to get some minor aesthetic revisions done by the end of this year and call it good, at least for a few years or until I'm in a steady relationship and penetration actually feels useful. Or I may just opt to use sleeves.

It sucks that I paid for a surgery that didn't work out, but oh well. These things happen 🤷‍♂️
