2010 honda shadow 750rs diagnosing misfire
a couple weeks ago i felt like the bike was maybe idling a little strange and ordered a tach. tach showed that the bike was jumping between 600-1200rpms, would stay at 1200 and then jump back down for a second. i changed the spark plugs and and still the same thing I noticed however if i put light pressure on one the boots it would stay around 1200. I inspected the boots and saw that the clip was missing so i replaced it, that one seemed fine after replacement but then another boot same thing (light pressure, normal rpms) inspected it again, the clip was missing. i'm assuming it might have come off when changing the plugs, they are old. replaced that one, its fine now however now a different plug is acting up. replaced the boot, same issue with only getting normal rpms when lightly touching it. swapped the boots with one that was connected to a different plug and still the same one is having an issue. front cylinder right side is the problematic one. i noticed the wire was tight against the cylinder cover so i gave a little more slack and changed the spark plug again. still the same issue but barely touching any part of the wire or boot will bring the rpms back up. I've inspected the wire and trimmed a small amount and screwed the boot back in but same issue. not entirely sure where to go from here. inspecting the the hole the spark plug screws into it looks a little grimy, read that maybe using a thread chaser could clean it out, not sure if this would be causing the issue and not sure where to go from here. any point in a direction would be much appreciated.
tldr: intermittent misfiring, front cylinder right side is giving the issue, determined that its not the boot, fresh spark plugs.
