advice needed: considering quitting academy

Hello everyone I am a few weeks into an academy for a very competitive department on the east coast in my home state. My girlfriend of 5 years is in grad school in Texas and we recently had a conversation where she told me she really does not want to come back to Maryland after graduate school for a lot of reasons that I won’t get into, but they make sense.

I am also not having a great time in academy, I am really struggling and wondering if this is for me, so I am considering two options:

1. Drop out of academy now, and go to texas and figure out if I even want to keep pursuing this there.

2. Push through, get my emt and fire cert and immediately resign and move to texas.

I’m not even sure if option two is possible, and it feels incredibly shitty to the department that is training me so I would feel bad, but I also am trying to look out for my future. I am hoping to get any advice/thoughts on this whole situation. Thanks.
