AITA for not wanting my best friend to hang out with my boyfriend 1v1?
Jay (my boyfriend) and i have ybeen together for almost 2 months. Leah and i have been best friends for about 4 years.
Both of them live in the same city, i do get to see them both often since it's very close to me + i go there because of my studies at least 5 times a week.
It started feeling weird not too long into the relationship when she started inviting him to her place to cook together, or to hang out with her when no one could. I never hear about these hangout from her, it's always my boyfriend that notifies me while she leaves me on delivered.
Then i the small comments of hers, saying how our relationship is too healthy, how i'm so lucky to have a "rich boyfriend"...
Then the fact that she was kinda using him bothered me too; whether it's transport when she's late/lazy (Jay drives a scooter and gets by quick) or borrowing his money for groceries, and when it's time to guve the money bavk he practically has to chase her. She even made a comment how "he's rich enough, why does he keep asking me to give the money back".
I talked to Jay about it firstly, he was very understandung about it, he even said it felt weird for him too but didn't wanna ruin our relationship by seeming rude to my friends. Anyway, the boundary was set.
I felt like it was time to talk to her about it too, and so i did. Her reaction was pretty nasty. She called me controlling and jealous, she said that i clearly don't trust her enough, she kept making examples of how our other friends wouldn't find it weird to hang out with your friend's partner one on one (even though i was clear that i didn't care about what others thought, this was the standard i was setting because it didn't feel right to me), compared the situation to the big bang theory (yes, the sitcom), said that i should just ignore my feelings while also saying i'm invalidating hers.
She said that we should have talked to her about this first because she thought she had a say in this. Some nasty words were said after i told her that she has nothing to do with our relationship. It resulted in her blocking me. We haven't been in contact since.
Some of Leah and mine mutual friends pointed out how i was wrong. I feel like an awful person for ending a really long friendship over a guy problem.
AITA?
