Dating a non-Catholic, who wants to become Catholic
I am currently in a relationship with an unbaptised individual, we have been seeing each other for about 7-8 months. They have been interested in Christianity broadly for much of their life, but are at present effectively “spiritual” rather than atheist or religious. As a couple, we go to church every week without fail, and I have made my intentions clear in that I want to be married and will be getting married in the Catholic Church. My partner is very on board with all of this- they also want to be married as a Catholic, they wish to get baptised at some point in the future, and even insists we get up and get ourselves to mass on Sunday when I’m being the lazy one. Nevertheless, I have some anxiety around the fact that they aren’t currently Catholic, and I’m not sure how permitted my current state of affairs is. I keep hearing stories online of Catholics marrying non-catholics and it all ending in tears. I was wondering what you guys thought, given the context provided above. Thanks in advance.
