Hi everyone, I'm really interested in doing the Whipsaw Trail this summer with my boyfriend. I have some offroading experience but don't want to get myself into trouble so I'm looking for friendly advice.

I have a 2010 RAV4, and in this vehicle I've made it to the Mount Cheam parking lot (september 2024), Statlu Lake trailhead (last month), Nahatlatch Lake (Sept 2025), the Chehalis Lake recreation site (august 2025), Mount Woodside (2024), as well as a bunch of the FSRs off of Hemlock Valley road. Just mentioning these so anyone who's done them can determine what the vehicle's capable of. None of these caused any damage to the car, besides some scratches from trees and branches and light dings underneath.

I did all these on stock tires but I have new tires, the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT, size 225/65/R17. I didn't have emergency equipment, just a spare. I want to do this trail properly (if my car/abilities can handle it) so I'm hoping someone can advise me on the essential safety gear.

I'm not looking to do the really intense obstacles, I'd rather drive around them. I know conditions change all the time so I'm just hoping I can make it through the inevitable ones while taking it easy otherwise. Also, wondering about bringing an extra tank of fuel.

I just enjoy beauty and exploring, but know that these trails must be approached with caution! Looking forward to helpful comments, thanks!
